There are many not so happy stories out there about skin "treatments" that have not worked....... She is never high pressure, AND, I have heard nothing but miracle stories about what Ivy has been able to do with every kind of skin issue.  There are so many undertrained and over marketed people and products, it is hard to know who to trust......and everyone's skin is different, responding to treatments differently.

I may have mentioned Ivy Halford to you before.  She is the one who is in the skin care business----I mean skin CARE.  She worked for years, with plastic surgeons in LA and had her own practice working on the skin of the THE stars.  She was even touted in the press out there as "LA's best kept secret"---She still goes back and forth but is taking on more and more clients here.

She transformed my skin, last year when I had the face lift---literally erasing any signs of incisions with her blend of treatments and use of laser lights, turned to just the right frequency for my skin.  And, when my hair began to thin, after the surgery, she took care of that as well with her ability to determine what needed to be done to correct THAT little nuisance as well. 

When I was in to see her the other day------all of this pain killer stuff has dried out my skin on my whole body terribly.....I thought of you with all those raw places on your feet-----she mentioned that the next client she was working with, was a woman going through chemo.  Little did I know that she has had extensive experience with chemo patients, helping women keep their skin looking and feeling healthy while all this was happening.

I never think about the skin as being an ORGAN of the body----I usually just think of it as the wrapper that holds the body together! 

After doing quite a bit of reading about the importance of keeping the skin exfoliated, I learned that when the skin is allowed to breath and release all those chemicals, naturally---through thorough exfoliation, it is a huge bonus to the overall healing process. Most aestheticians don't have the kind of equipment that really does the job and typcial over the counter scrubs don't really work either. 

She is one of the few independent medical Aestheticians in the country, not practicing through a DR's office (where each treatment can cost up to $700) who has been authorized to work with/own this medical grade equipment.  Plus, she has two kinds of healing laser lights that she can adjust the frequency for just for you-----they are just remarkable in what they can do for the skin, not just on your face, but on your whole body.

THEN......over the years, she developed a product that you use anywhere but especially on those really dry, blistery places-----so soothing and again, remarkably healing and emolliant. They include a balm----that you rub in your hands and then apply anywhere there is dryness.  I love that for around my eyes and lips, which seem to never get enough moisture from all this "chemical " stuff going on inside.  Then there is a lotion that you spray in your hands and use afterward.  I put the balm all over my face and neck before I get in the shower and then let the steam soak it all in.  She has used this organic, olive oil based mixture with the cancer patients she is working with and they love it. 

My husband uses it too----the cleanser, he uses instead of shaving cream.  He uses the balm around his cuticles and toes and cracked heels too, as well as around his eyes and mouth before he goes to bed.  He loves the way it smells too.  Her products have been picked up by Whole Foods which has some of the most stringent guidelines for organic and natural skin care in the world----(By, the way....yes, this is her business but it is also her passion and she is one of the most truly caring people you will ever meet.)

She has a small studio in Salons of Dallas at Cedar Springs and Oaklawn.  You enter the building at The Centrum Towers, just two entrances down from STEEL, the restaurant.  Take the elevator up one floor and Salons of Dallas is just off the first floor lobby.

I totally swear by what Ivy did for me after I had my surgery last year. I was bruised like crazy--and huge, ugly red incision marks that I thought I would never recover from. After about a week, she came over and started using her post-surgical lights on everything---bruises and incisions. I could not believe how fast all discoloration (even that yellow cast to the skin) went away.

After several treatments with the lights, on a return visit to the plastic surgeon, he was SO proud of himself because he could not see any of his incisions! When I tried to explain to him that I had been having these treatments to make the scars disappear--he just stared at me and then continued to give himself, full credit. Bull!

Even with this recent knee surgery--I had a bruise--big, ugly, black, purple--the size of a pancake on my inner thigh--Ivy used the lights on me--one time--and within three days, it has all but disapppeared.

She also used her medical grade skin polishing equipment on my face and neck--which helped make my skin look alive again. After surgery, all that anestheisa and medication can give your skin a sort of sallow appearance. Again, I could not believe how much more healthy and awake I looked when she worked her magic on my skin.

After this knee surgery, with the pain killlers and the anti-inflammatory stuff I was taking---my skin dried out every where. She used the intruments all over my arms and legs, neck and face. I really looked alive again.

This may be too much of a blast from the past for you to remember, but I had to let you know that I think of you often, remembering how much you helped the acne ridden 19 year-old that was me, and wanted you to know that I still sing your praises to all of my girlfriends and just plain miss your company!
I started coming to see you in your beautiful, mosaic-ed salon in Santa Monica in the late '90's. You cleared-up my resistant to Retin A and everything else acne with microdermabrasion, and cleared-up my low self-esteem with your kind nature. In 2001 I moved to Paris, France and lost touch with you a year or two later. Mom said that you moved to Texas to be near your own mom.
After all this time, I just wanted you to know how much you are appreciated and that you are still in my thoughts. I sincerely hope that all is well and wish you the best that you can dream of!

I don't know what I would do without your liquid moisturizer! I can tell a difference in my skin immediately when I don't use it. So I am very excited to have it again :) Congratulations on Whole Foods! Once people start using your products, they will sell like hot cakes! I will be sure to start requesting it at the Austin Whole Foods. They have a great beauty section and the store is always packed. You are going to do great!!!

Transform your skin - no kidding. For years, she's been called "the best kept secret" in Hollywood. She's worked on the top Hollywood celebrities in the business.
